strong partnership between the U.S. Government and the Government of the
Kingdom of the Netherlands in organizing the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (www.ges2019.org)

in Athens and Thessaloniki on the “Road to Global Entrepreneurship Summit”
The
U.S. Embassy in collaboration with the Netherlands Embassy is organizing a
series of programs focused on startup entrepreneurship in the agri-tech and
food sector, in Athens and Thessaloniki, May 13-15. Under the title #FarmingtheFuture, the
programs are
official ‘Road to GES” events celebrating the
Global Entrepreneurship Summit, which will take place in The Hague June 4-5 (www.ges2019.org).
On May 14 at
6:00 p.m. in Athens, the pitching competition "The
Squeeze" will take place at the Orange Grove, the international
startup incubator founded by the Netherlands Embassy. Eight agri-food startups
will go head-to-head on Orange Grove’s stage, pitching their business ideas to
a panel of distinguished judges from the U.S., the Netherlands and Greece.
The panel of distinguished judges includes:
- Alphons van Broekhoven, Director at Reggeborgh (Netherlands)
- Amu Fowler, Managing
Director at ViveDC (U.S.)
- Arjan de Jong, Specialist Lead Data & Analytics at Vattenfall
(Netherlands)
- Marisa Antonopoulou, Business Development Manager at Action Finance
Initiative (Greece)
Jan Franke, a Dutch journalist in the field of Technology and Innovation
and a startup enthusiast and mentor based in Tel Aviv, will be the presenter of
the competition.
The judges will be discussing their experiences and the challenges they
faced during their path to success at the “Orange Stories” event, held the day
before the competition on May 13 at 6:00
p.m. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to attend to meet the judges and ask them
questions..
Both events are open to the public and entry

In Thessaloniki, on May 15 at 5:00 p.m., the U.S.
Consulate General in collaboration with the Netherlands Embassy, the American
farm School, Orange Grove and the Rutgers University program “New Agriculture
for a New Generation” are organizing a workshop for agri-food startups at the
American Farm School. American
entrepreneur and mentor Amu Fowler, together with Philippos Papadopoulos,
Director of the Strategic Project Management Office of the American Farm
School, and Effie Lazaridou, Managing Director, New Agriculture for a New
Generation, Rutgers University, will discuss educational opportunities for
agri-food entrepreneurs, share information on exports and investments, as well
as on incorporating new technologies in the field.

will attract 2,000 entrepreneurs, investors, policy makers, and innovation
ecosystem partners in five focus sectors: Agri-Food, Connectivity, Energy,
Health, and Water. Access to finance, job creation and women’s economic
empowerment will be overarching themes.

Αθήνα και Θεσσαλονίκη πριν την Παγκόσμια Διάσκεψη για την Επιχειρηματικότητα
Η Πρεσβεία των Η.Π.Α. σε συνεργασία με την Πρεσβεία της Ολλανδίας διοργανώνουν μια σειρά από εκδηλώσεις με θέμα τη νεοφυή επιχειρηματικότητα στον τομέα της Αγρο-τεχνολογίας και των Τροφίμων, σε Αθήνα και Θεσσαλονίκη, από τις 13 έως τις 15 Μαΐου. Υπό τον τίτλο #FarmingtheFuture οι εκδηλώσεις αυτές αποτελούν μέρος του εορτασμού της Παγκόσμια Διάσκεψη για την Επιχειρηματικότητα, που διοργανώνεται στη Χάγη, 4-5 Ιουνίου 2019 (Global Entrepreneurship Summit www.ges2019.org).
Στις 14 Μαΐου στις
6:00 μ.μ., στην Αθήνα, θα διεξαχθεί ο δημοφιλής pitching διαγωνισμός για startups "The Squeeze" του Orange Grove, του διεθνούς startup incubator της Ολλανδικής Πρεσβείας. Στη σκηνή του Orange Grove θα ανέβουν οκτώ startups από τον χώρο της αγροτεχνολογίας για να παρουσιάσουν την επιχειρηματική
τους ιδέα σε ένα διακεκριμένο πάνελ κριτών από τις Η.Π.Α., την Ολλανδία και την
Ελλάδα.
Τo διεθνές πάνελ κριτών αποτελούν οι:
- Alphons van Broekhoven, Director at Reggeborgh (Ολλανδία)
Την εκδήλωση θα συντονίσει ο Ολλανδός δημοσιογράφος
Τεχνολογίας και Καινοτομίας, και startup μέντορας με έδρα το Τελ Αβίβ, Jan Franke.
Στο Orange Stories, oι κριτές θα απαντήσουν σε ερωτήσεις του κοινού και θα αποκαλύψουν τα
μυστικά της επιτυχημένης πορείας τους μέσα από τις προσωπικές τους εμπειρίες,
μια ημέρα πριν, στις 13 Μαΐου στις 6:00
μ.μ. Οι επιχειρηματίες μπορούν να το παρακολουθήσουν, να γνωρίσουν τους
κριτές και να τους θέσουν ερωτήματα.
Τόσο ο διαγωνισμός “The Squeeze” όσο και η εκδήλωση Orange Stories είναι ανοιχτοί προς το κοινό και η είσοδος είναι

Στις 15 Μαΐου, στις 5:00 μμ, στην Θεσσαλονίκη, το Γενικό Προξενείο των Η.Π.Α. σε συνεργασία με την Ολλανδική Πρεσβεία,
την Αμερικανική Γεωργική Σχολή το Orange Grove και το πρόγραμμα «Νέα Γεωργία για τη Νέα Γενιά» διοργανώνουν ένα εργαστήριο για επιχειρηματίες του
αγρο-διατροφικού τομέα στην Αμερικανική Γεωργική Σχολή.
Η Αμερικανίδα επιχειρηματίας και μέντορας Amu Fowler μαζί με τον
Φίλιππο Παπαδόπουλο, Διευθυντή
Στρατηγικού Σχεδιασμού της Αμερικανικής Γεωργικής Σχολής, και την Έφη
Λαζαρίδου, Διευθύντρια του προγράμματος «Νέα Γεωργία για τη Νέα Γενιά» του
Πανεπιστημίου Rutgers θα συζητήσουν για τις δυνατότητες εκπαίδευσης των νέων επιχειρηματιών,
προοπτικές εξαγωγών και επενδύσεων, καθώς και ευκαιρίες εισαγωγής νέων
τεχνολογιών στον τομέα της αγροτικής παραγωγής και των τροφίμων.
Και οι τρεις διοργανώσεις
αποτελούν επίσημες εκδηλώσεις “Road to
GES,” στο πλαίσιο της επιτυχημένης συνεργασίας μεταξύ των κυβερνήσεων της
Ολλανδίας και των Η.Π.Α. για τη διοργάνωση του Global Entrepreneurship Summit (www.ges2019.org) που θα πραγματοποιηθεί στη Χάγη, 4-5 Ιουνίου 2019. To GES 2019 έχει θέμα The
Future Now και πρόκειται να
προσελκύσει 2.000 επιχειρηματίες, επενδυτές, υπεύθυνους χάραξης πολιτικής και
εκπρόσωπους των οικοσυστημάτων καινοτομίας, εστιάζοντας σε πέντε τομείς:
Αγροτική Παραγωγή και Τρόφιμα, Επικοινωνία και Συνδεσιμότητα, Ενέργεια, Υγεία
και Υδάτινοι Πόροι. Η πρόσβαση στη χρηματοδότηση, η δημιουργία θέσεων
απασχόλησης και η οικονομική ενδυνάμωση των γυναικών θα αποτελέσουν σημεία
ενδιαφέροντος του συνεδρίου.
